Firefighters hurt in crash with alleged drunk driver

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Four firefighters were hurt after a suspected drunk driver crashed her car into their truck near Alpine.

It happened this morning near the Viejas casino.

The CHP says 25-year-old Yesenia Mitre pulled out of the casino parking lot, right in front of a fire truck that was on its way to a medical aid call.

The truck crashed into a utility pole that fell into the street.

The firefighters suffered minor injuries and Mitre has a broken wrist.

She was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — One person was seriously hurt and several firefighters suffered what are believed to be minor injuries when a car and a fire truck collided in rural western San Diego County.

A California Highway Patrol dispatcher says the crash happened Sunday morning on a two-lane road northeast of Alpine.

An unknown number of firefighters were taken to a hospital to check out complaints of pain.

The cause of the crash, which knocked down a telephone pole, is under investigation.
