Abused puppies Almond and Joy ready for adoption

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Two adorable puppies are looking for new families after being rescued from an abusive owner.

Animal control officers took the dogs from the home of 22-year-old Edgar Rodriguez after learning he had thrown one of them off the roof.

X-rays revealed both Almond and Joy had suffered multiple fractures. Almond underwent extensive surgery and is being treated with water therapy.

The Department of Animal Services is hoping to find the right families to take them home.

"Our goal is to get these two dogs into really good loving homes to where they can live a life of happiness and not abuse," Lt. Daniel DeSousa said.
