SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Some San Diego Chargers fans who wanted to take the trolley to today's preseason football game against the Chicago Bears had their plans derailed when some trolley lines broke and started a small grass fire in Mission Valley, a fire dispatcher said.

Downed trolley lines started a grass fire near Mission Center Road and Camino de le Reina just after 3 p.m., said a dispatcher with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Trolley service was interrupted west of Qualcomm Stadium, according to Scott Yoffe of the Chargers. Alternative service to the stadium was made available, according to the

Metropolitan Transit System.

Riders waiting at the Fashion Valley and Fenton Plaza trolley stations were bussed to Qualcomm Stadium.
