OB "bum" stickers now being stenciled on the sidewalk

OCEAN BEACH, Calif. (CBS 8) - The controversial bum stickers that caused an uproar on Ocean Beach are back, but this time in stencil form.

The designs are being etched onto the ground.

The sticker states "Welcome to Ocean Beach. Don't feed our bums."

A local head shop, The Black, began selling the bumper stickers and t-shirts with the message back in June.

The sticker was co-created by Ken Anderson, who works in OB. He says the message is directed at a new, young group of transients who are aggressive and disrespectful toward residents and tourists.

"I use the term reasonable intolerance, that's all. And it's not a blanket statement toward the homeless. It's primarily for the traveling street kids who don't have a sense of connection with this community," Anderson said.

Some people approve of the bumper sticker's message, while others say it promotes a message of hate.
