SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was arrested Thursday shortly after allegedly stealing a bagful of cash from an Nestor area bank while claiming to be carrying a bomb, authorities reported.

The man approached a teller at the Wells Fargo branch in the 600 block of Saturn Boulevard about 5 p.m., put a fanny pack on the service counter, claimed it contained an explosive device and demanded cash, according to San Diego police.

The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of money, and the bandit walked out, San Diego Police Department Officer David Stafford said. Moments later, patrol officers took the man into custody near the bank. An explosive device was not found, Stafford said.

The suspect's name was not immediately available.
