MESA GRANDE (CNS) - Firefighters quickly stopped the spread of a grass fire near the community of Mesa Grande in the back country today.
The fire was reported just after 3:15 p.m., and within 45 minutes fire crews had limited its spread to 3 acres near the intersection of Mesa Grande Road and Highway 79, according to Roxanne Provaznik, a spokeswoman for Cal Fire.
No structures were threatened by the blaze, she said.
Provaznik said 10 engines, four fire crews, one bulldozer, one water tender, one helicopter and two airtankers responded to fight the flames.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, she said.
