Toddler accidentally run over by her mother dies

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A nearly 2-year-old girl accidentally run over by her mother, who was backing her van into an alley, died Thursday of her injuries, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Lauren Garibay died around 10:30 a.m. at Rady Children's Hospital, less than 24 hours after suffering a severe traumatic brain injury, the Medical Examiner's Office reported.

The accident occurred in the alley of 3700 Florence St. around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer David Stafford of the San Diego Police Department.

The mother was getting several children ready to go when she backed up and ran over the girl, Stafford said.

He said alcohol was not a factor.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 23-month-old girl was in extremely critical condition as of Wednesday night, after being run over by her mother who was backing up her car into an alley Wednesday.

The accident occurred in the alley of 3700 Florence St. at 5:24 p.m., said Officer David Stafford of the San Diego Police Department.

The mother was getting several children ready to go and when she backed up and ran over the girl.

The girl is "in really bad shape" at the hospital, Stafford said.

Alcohol was not a factor, Stafford said.
