News 8 has learned about a gun scare at a Lemon Grove School. It took place outside Mount Vernon Elementary in the 8300 block of Mount Vernon Street Friday.
The school was placed on lockdown, after a man was seen with a weapon. The sheriff's department says they were able to find him and the pellet gun, which they believe he used. No one was hurt.
The incident came on the same day as the Carlsbad Elementary School shooting and has some people concerned about their children's safety.
"I always thought they were safe when I used to take my kids to school, sure, but nowadays, you know how people are I dunno, what's going through their mind, you know what I mean? Why do you want to hurt little kids? That's my problem," said Carlos Garcia who Lives Near School:
The suspect has been identified as 57-year-old Maximo Jimenez. He was arrested for displaying a fake firearm in a threatening manner.
