On such a "June Gloom" weekend as this, what better walk to take than the old highway that ran from Los Angeles to San Diego? If you're walking on this 3-Day Komen journey in November, this is a highway that you'll be walking, I'm pretty sure. It's the Torrey Pines State Park trail that goes from the ocean below up to the golf course above. Interesting real estate, and the highway itself is still there. . .I'm talking about the concrete from 1915.
There are going to be hills on this weekend in November, and each year there's been a lengthy trail of pink going up Torrey Pines. . .if you've checked the training manuals (or talked to people who have done this walk before) you'll know that hills should be a part of your longer training walks. This one was pretty wild.
Hey! Got my first blister, too. Not a huge one. But the 3-Day just went from a cakewalk to a maybe-I'll-get-by-without-any-problems-and-maybe-not sort of weekend.
But the bottom line is you should really check out this hill if you get the chance. And if not, you'll likely get the chance in November.
