    Matthew Garcia was surfing two feet away from his friend who was bodyboarding when he heard a desperate cry for help.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Local surfers paddled out Thursday in honor of a college student killed by a shark last week.

Lucas Ransom, 19, was boogie-boarding in the surf line about 100 yards off of Surf Beach in Santa Barbara County with a friend when a shark suddenly pulled him under the water .
