The Dish with Anita: Cranberry Sauce with Grand Marnier

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - This is a great cranberry sauce recipe that is very easy to prepare and tastes better than anything you'll get out of a can! After all, if you are going to spend hours roasting a turkey, it would be a shame to stop short with the cranberry sauce. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup water

1 (16-ounce) bag fresh cranberries

1/4 cup chopped apple or pear

1/4 cup raisins

1/4 cup Grand Marnier

1/4 cup orange juice

1/2 on a lemon, juiced

1 cinnamon stick

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated

Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the cranberries and return to a boil, then lower the heat so that the liquid simmers. Add the apples (or pears), raisins, Grand Marnier, orange and lemon juices, cinnamon stick and nutmeg, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove from heat let cool at room temperature completely, then place in fridge to chill 2 hours or overnight before serving.
