Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Police say the estranged husband of a woman found in a burned car at the University of California, San Diego, has been arrested in Tijuana.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Saturday that Julio Angel Garcia-Puente was arrested in the Mexican border town around 8 p.m. the previous evening. He surrendered to U.S. authorities and was booked into jail.

Fifty-year-old Garcia-Puente was wanted for questioning in the Oct. 29 death of his wife, a 38-year-old Carlsbad woman whose identity has not been released.

Her car was found in flames in a parking lot. When firefighters had doused the fire, her body was found inside.

The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death a homicide but investigators have sealed the full autopsy results.
