SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - November is National Adoption Awareness Month, and county supervisors Greg Cox and Ron Roberts, longtime supporters of Child Welfare Services spoke to News 8 about the success of the county's foster and adoption programs.
"Five years ago we had 630 adoptions. This last year we had 728 adoptions. Every year for the last five years the number of adoptions has been going up, and every year, the number of foster kids in our system has been going down," Supervisor Cox said.
"There's a good news story here. Most importantly we want youngsters to be in families that create a brighter future for them -- that's what it's about. At the end of the day, we should be judged on how well we're taking care of the kids," Supervisor Roberts said.
The county and those of us here at News 8 want to thank all of the families here in San Diego who have become Forever Families for children in foster care.
