Windshield cracks on California-bound Delta flight

Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says a Delta Air Lines jet bound for Southern California had to divert to Dallas-Fort Worth due to a cracked windshield.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says Delta Flight 1795 declared an emergency while en route from Atlanta to John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

KCAL-TV played a passenger's cell phone video taken inside the cabin that included audio of the pilot announcing the problem. He calmly said that the windshield had cracked, but no air was leaking into the plane and no glass had broken.

Gregor says the Boeing 737 landed in Texas without incident at 12:29 p.m. Central Time. Passengers continued on aboard another plane and arrived at 3:30 p.m. Pacific.

The FAA is investigating.
