Magic moving seats make 'Harry Potter' even better

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, and now you can watch and experience "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 1" like never before. Three local UltraStar movie theaters are using motion seat technology to let you become a part of the movie.

"It really changes the whole paradigm of just going to the movies and sitting in your seat," Wally Schlotter of UltraStar cinemas said.

Dbox technology makes it feel like you are in the film. We tested it out at UltraStar Cinemas for the wildly popular day-of release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 1".

"The fun thing was for the 'Fast and Furious' films it really felt like you were in the car. The car takes a right-hand turn, the seat tilts that way," Sclotter said.

It's a section of seats with motion sensors tied to the action on the screen. That's not to scare off those with soft stomachs.

"There are four different levels you can adjust it to," Schlotter said.

There are only 43 theaters in the world equipped with Dbox seating. Luckily three of them are right here in San Diego County, and only three are showing "Harry Potter" in the full Dbox experience.

The best thing about Dbox technology is the seats are already reserved. No waiting in long lines.

UltraStar Cinemas has Dbox technology in its Mission Valley, Poway and Oceanside theatres. It will cost you $8 more than the price of a regular ticket.
