MISSION VALLEY (CNS) - A one-month-old puppy found with his ears cut off in a dumpster outside a Target store in Mission Valley was recovering Monday, according to county authorities.

The puppy was found Friday evening in the 1200 block of Camino del Rio North and taken to the Department of Animal Services, said Dan DeSousa, spokesman for San Diego County Department of Animal Services.

The department named the puppy "Sunny" and took him to a veterinarian for treatment for his cut-off ears, DeSousa said.

Sunny is now in good condition, DeSousa said. The Department of Animal Services will notify the public if Sunny is up for adoption.

If you have any information on who may have hurt Sunny and left him in a dumpster, call Animal Control at 619-236-2341.
