Puppy found with ears cut off in Mission Valley dumpster recovering

MISSION VALLEY (CNS) - A one-month-old puppy found with his ears cut off in a dumpster outside a Target store in Mission Valley was recovering Monday, according to county authorities.

The puppy was found Friday evening in the 1200 block of Camino del Rio North and taken to the Department of Animal Services, said Dan DeSousa, spokesman for San Diego County Department of Animal Services.

The department named the puppy "Sunny" and took him to a veterinarian for treatment for his cut-off ears, DeSousa said.

Sunny is now in good condition, DeSousa said. The Department of Animal Services will notify the public if Sunny is up for adoption.

If you have any information on who may have hurt Sunny and left him in a dumpster, call Animal Control at 619-236-2341.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - The County Department of Animal Control is investigating the discovery of a one month old puppy with his ears cut off in a Mission Valley dumpster.

A good samaritan found Sunny, a labrador-shepherd puppy mix, Friday night in a dumpster behind the Target store in Mission Valley.

Sunny was rushed to animal control and received immediate veterinary care and is expected to be okay.
