SAN DIEGO (AP) — Two students from San Diego County have been named Rhodes Scholars for 2011.

The scholarships were announced Sunday and provide all expenses for two or three years of study at Oxford University in England. Their value averages about $50,000 a year.

Megan Braun, of Coronado, graduated in October from the University of California, Irvine, with a B.A. in history and a minor in philosophy. She now attends England's Cambridge University, where she has studied war crimes law.

John Scotti, of San Diego, is a senior at the University of Chicago, where he will receive three chemistry degrees. He is interested in the uses of chemical synthesis in curing diseases.

Rhodes Scholarships were created in 1902 by British philanthropist Cecil Rhodes.
