SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The first pictures were heartbreaking, but now there's a new future for an abused puppy.
Sunny, a one-month-old Labrador-shepherd mix, was found last Friday in the parking lot of the Mission Valley Target. His ears had been cut off.
Now he's had surgery, will make a full recovery and is feeling much better.
Whoever did it had better watch out -- investigators say they've received a lot of leads and they are coming after you.
"The poor puppy here definitely experienced pain and suffering when this was done. So we would want to go ahead and make sure that whoever did this was prosecuted to the full extent of the law," Lt. Kalani Hudson of the Dept. of Animal Services said.
Sunny will go into foster care and get plenty of TLC during his recovery. He will eventually be put up for adoption and hopefully find a happy home.
