ESCONDIDO (CBS 8) - For the first time, we're getting a look inside the home of a man suspected of possessing large amounts of dangerous bomb-making materials.
Photographs released by authorities show 54-year-old George Jakubec's alleged work station, a kitchen counter with what appears to be moldings for several self-made hand grenades, and detonators, along with scattered jars filled with the highly explosive chemical HMTD.
Traces of HMTD were also shown in powder form, loose on the living room floor.
Shown to hundreds of residents at Tuesday nights town hall meeting, the photos were used as evidence to support the county's decision to declare a public emergency and burn the house down.
"We have no option but to burn the house down. in this case there was no physical way to move through the structure safely and remove the chemical," said Nick Vent of San Diego County Haz Mat.
The house is scheduled to be burned as early as December 8th.
