LAKESIDE (CNS) - The body of an unidentified male has been discovered in a remote area of the Barona Indian Reservation, deputies announced Sunday.

Detectives have been focusing on the reservation in an investigation of the disappearance of 17-year-old Christopher Cory Carioscia, an El Capitan High School student who was reported missing on Oct. 27 after having told his family the day before that he was going surfing at Pacific Beach.

His burned vehicle was discovered on the reservation, leading detectives to follow up on potential leads there.

The San Diego County sheriff's office announced today that investigators discovered an as yet unidentified body Saturday afternoon in the remote area of the reservation, northeast of Lakeside.

The area where the body was found is currently being processed as a crime scene, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies refused to provide an exact location where the body was found and where forensic work is being done.

A post mortem examination to identify the victim and establish a cause of death is scheduled for Monday, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
