Thousands of San Diegans learn hands-only CPR

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Several thousand San Diegans were trained how to perform hands-only CPR today, as part of a nationwide program that stopped right here in San Diego.

CPR across America held a free event onboard the USS Midway.

People who attended were taught how to perform hands-only CPR using these mannequins.

Trainers say while the procedure by itself likely won't save someone suffering from cardiac arrest, it can buy them valuable time.

CPR across America says they've trained an estimated 40,000 people nationwide.
