SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A shooting in the College area left a woman dead Friday and led to a traffic accident involving a patrol officer responding to the slaying, authorities reported.
The gunfire near the intersection of 55th Street and El Cajon Boulevard was reported shortly before 10 a.m., according to San Diego police.
An officer heading to the scene of the shooting got into a crash a short distance away, but there were no immediate reports of injuries resulting from the accident, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said.
Police blocked off traffic lanes in the area due to the crash.
No suspects in the slaying were in custody by late morning.
