Parade of lights dedicated to memory of boy killed

The 39th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights went off Sunday night dedicated to the memory of a young boy killed during last year's event.

Eight-year-old Anthony Deweese died when the boat he was riding on was struck by a Coast Guard boat.

Organizers say, because of last year's tragedy, they considered canceling this year's event.  But after speaking with Anthony's family, the decision was made to go ahead with plans as scheduled.  The DeWeese's even helped decorate a boat in Anthony's honor.  The boat was covered with red lights - Anthony's favorite color.

The crash did lead to some changes, including a safety zone established around the parade route, and vessels will be prohibited from entering the area without authorization.

The crowd - estimated at 80,000- cheered on the decorated boats as they passed by.
