SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, when famous bands reunite they make major headlines. The same can be said about Sunny and Cher. Not the band but two adorable mixed lab puppies reunited for the first time since their ears were cut off last month.

The band is back together, Sunny and Cher have finally been reunited and they are the hottest ticket in town. In a made for a movie moment in front of a puppy paparazzi the doggy duet is once again sharing the stage. After making fast and full recoveries, the puppies are up for adoption.

On November 19-th, Sunny was discovered in a Mission Valley dumpster with his ears sliced off. Last Tuesday, Cher showed up missing her ears as well.

Scripps Ranch mother Sonja Lima and her five children want to take Cher home. Lima said, "I think Cher is just adorable and full of love for a puppy that has had such a rough start." Armed with an adoption application, the Limas will compete against more than 100 other families who want to give the dogs happy homes.

Animal Control officers say if they catch the people responsible they could face up to a year in state prison and a 20-thousand dollar fine.

People sometimes forget that in real life Sunny and Cher could fight like cats and dogs. The same goes for siblings from the same litter, so this cuddly combo will be broken up to go to separate homes. Despite fierce competition for the two loving puppies Animal Control services says this is not about money the family that can provide the most loving home will take them home and the applications will be accepted through Saturday.

Only two families will take Sunny and Cher home but animal services would like to remind everyone that the shelter has more than one hundred and fifty other dogs up for adoption this holiday season.
