Sinkhole causes problems in Santee after water main break

Posted: Updated:

SANTEE (CNS) - A water main broke in a Santee cul-de-sac Wednesday, causing a large sinkhole and service disruption to about 15 to 20 residents, authorities said.

The break in the 10000 block of Pebble Beach Drive was reported to the sheriff's department at 6:25 a.m., said San Diego County sheriff's dispatch supervisor Becky Strahm.

Reports on the size of the sinkhole varied from 6-feet-wide-by-4-feet-deep to 15-feet-wide-by-6-feet deep.

It was not immediately clear whether the cause of the break was believed to be tied to the torrential rains in the county.
