CORONADO (CNS) - A man's body was found on a beach at North Island Naval Air Station Wednesday, authorities reported.
A U.S. Coast Guard pollution inspector was working in the area when he came across the body about 500 yards away from Zuniga Point Jetty about 8:45 a.m., USCG Petty Officer Henry Dunphy said. The corpse appeared to have washed ashore, according to Dunphy.
Military and harbor police officers were called in to investigate the fatality, and a Coast Guard air crew spent several hours flying over San Diego harbor and the ocean in the area in case anyone else was in the water. The search turned up no other victims.
