'Twas the night before Christmas

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Christmas is just hours away, and our Larry Himmel can't wait. That's why he's giving us his own rendition of the classic "'Twas the Night Before Christmas".

'Twas the night before Christmas

And all through News 8.

There was breaking news in the building

'Cuz the jolly old fat man was running late.

It seems after landing at Lindbergh

Authroities went through his sleigh.

Santa said, "You can open my bags,

But don't touch my junk," he told the TSA.

Then away to his task

He flew like a wisp.

And shouted to the reindeer

Kearny Mesa's next on my list.

Now, Dasher. Now, Dancer.

On Comet, on Cupid.

On Donner and Blitzen.

From the top of the porch

And down through the alley

Avoid all the water

Around Mission Valley Mall.

They flew through the air

Breathed in the night chill

Until they all got a whiff

Of the Miramar Landfill.

So Santa brought the sleigh down

On Engineer Road.

And a bag filled with presents

He began to unload.

For the writers and producers

Bottles of champagne.

For the assignment desk

A new electric train.

For the photography staff

That works hard all the time.

A bottle of something

That goes good with lime.

To our engineers

Who are never naughty but nice.

Santa baked them cookies,

Made of sugar and spice.

For Rekha Muddaraj

Some really nice bling

For Dan Cohen.

Deep dish pizza, it's a Chicago thing.

Then he sprang to his sleigh to his team gave a whistle.

And away he flew like the dawn of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,

"Merry Christmas to all who watch News 8 tonight!"

In 2006, the city of San Diego began allowing political campaigns to electronically file their financial reports, giving the public easy access to information on money in city politics. The county of San Diego wasn’t as quick to make the same kind of information available and continues to lag behind the city’s efforts.
