CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A 54-year-old homeless woman who was fatally struck Christmas Day by a hit-and-run driver in Chula Vista was identified Tuesday.

Robin O'Quinn was crossing the 1200 block of Third Avenue when she was struck about 8:30 p.m., according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Angel Gutierrez, 23, who was later arrested in the accident, was facing a vehicular manslaughter charge.

A witness provided police with a partial license on the white Pontiac sedan that struck the woman, and police found the car abandoned in the 200 block of Moss Street about an hour later, police said.

Investigators went to the registered owner's address, questioned Gutierrez's relatives, then picked him up about 2:40 a.m. Sunday outside his home in the 300 block of Date Street.

Gutierrez initially told police he was not driving and had loaned his car to a "homeboy," police said.
