How much more rain can San Diego take?

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Perhaps it's the holiday season, but Wednesday's storm doesn't seem to be bringing out the worst in people. The roads may be slippery, but people seem to be taking it all in stride.

San Diegans in the North County woke up to heavy rain, with a wet and slick morning commute. Soichi Ozaki, on vacation here in San Diego from Japan, was driving his rental car on I-15 near Via Rancho Parkway, when he says another driver lost control and hit him. Fortunately, he's okay, but his rear tire is shredded.

Aside from the usual trouble spots like Harmony Grove Road which is closed with the rain-swollen raging river washing over the road, the rain didn't create too many problems this time around.

"I've been driving all day, hasn't been too bad," maintenance worker Joe Gregor said.

Gregor does maintenance for several properties, checking for leaks in buildings and rooftops. But you'll find no complaints from him.

"I love this weather," he said.

It's a great attitude, and he's not alone.

"I come from England so this is liquid sunshine to me," one visitor said.

A fitting way to say good riddance to what was a stormy year, some say.

"I think it's kind of a nice ending to 2010, because I'm really excited about 2011," one resident said.

It's a storm that can blow out all of the bad energy from San Diego so we can all start anew.

"2010 was a rough year for everybody, so I think it's kind of a good sign," a resident said.
