San Diego City Council President Tony Young has called for a special city council meeting on Tuesday, January 4th to discuss declaring a local emergency a result of the recent winter storms.
Young says " Neighborhoods and communities throughout the city have experienced damages from the wide spread flooding, wind damage, mudslides and debris resulting from the severe rain storms that begin December 18, 2010. Due to the significant emergency conditions and required responses, I will be requesting the Council to ratify the Mayor's declaration of a local emergency. This action will allow the City to receive financial assistance from the State and Federal governments to help cover the costs associated with cleaning up and repairing damages after the storms."
The meeting will be held at the council downtown at 10am and the public is welcome to attend.
