SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Chris Polk and Jake Locker ran for touchdowns as Washington defeated Nebraska, 19-7, in the Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium, avenging a 56-21 loss Sept. 18.

The underdog Huskies took a 10-0 first quarter lead on Polk's three-yard touchdown run and Erik Folk's 39-yard field goal.

The Cornhuskers, 10-4, scored their only touchdown in the second quarter on Taylor Martinez's 15-yard pass to Kyler Reed.

Locker ran 25 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Huskies, 7-6, added a safety 90 seconds into the fourth quarter when Nebraska guard Ricky Henry was called for holding Washington defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu in Cornhuskers end zone.

The Huskies ended the season with a four-game winning streak.

Washington made its first bowl appearance on Thursday night since 2002 and won its first bowl game since the 2001 Rose Bowl.
