Samuel Alexander Webster, 27, is charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 10, 2009 death of 44-year-old Devin Johnson.
Webster's girlfriend, Rachel Battle, testified during a four-hour preliminary hearing that she and the defendant argued the morning of the shooting over bills.
She said she gave Webster a ride to Maddox Liquor in the 3200 block of Fairmount Avenue, and he returned to the car angry because he had said "hi" to someone who hadn't said it back.
Battle said Webster instructed her to drive around the corner so he could "scare" the person who didn't speak to him. Moments later, Webster pulled out a gun and shot Johnson, according to Battle.
