Colorado man takes plea in Navy SEAL weapons case

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Colorado man is going back under house arrest after pleading guilty Tuesday in Nevada to conspiracy and a weapons charge in a case alleging a Navy SEAL smuggled and sold machine guns and other weapons from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sentencing has been set for April 15 for Richard Paul of Durango, Colo. He is the third man to plead guilty as part of plea agreements, leaving only active-duty serviceman Nicholas Bickle of San Diego to face trial on federal conspiracy and weapon charges.

Paul could face up to 15 years and $500,000 in fines.

Co-defendants Andrew Kaufman and Omar Aguirre, from Las Vegas, pleaded guilty last month. All three men have agreed to cooperate with prosecutors and testify against Bickle.
