OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A San Diego County woman won't go to jail for slashing her husband in the face and nearly severing his finger as he slept.
City News Service says 65-year-old Carmen Ana Torres was sentenced Wednesday to three years of probation and received credit for time served. She pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic violence on a spouse causing great bodily injury.
Authorities say she attacked her husband, 56-year-old Euripides Torres, as he slept in their Oceanside apartment on Aug. 8. Authorities say they'd argued and the man had told his wife he was leaving her for another woman.
A prosecutor says the husband told authorities he considered the attack to be his fault and didn't want his wife to do more jail time.
She'll be allowed to live in Connecticut.
