FALLBROOK (CNS) - A 38-year-old man and his female passenger were killed when their vehicle veered off a roadway, went down an embankment and struck a tree in Fallbrook early Friday, authorities said.
The double fatality off South Mission Road and Overland Trail was reported at 2:18 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima southbound on South Mission Road when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons, barreled down a 20-foot embankment and slammed into a tree on the passenger side, CHP Officer Eric Newbury said.
Both the man and his female passenger died at the scene.
