Family of man behind alleged Helix High scare speaks out

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - The family of an El Cajon man, who allegedly made a concerning phone call that put Helix High on lockdown, is speaking out.

David Schreiner's family says the 47-year-old gulf war veteran suffers from post traumatic stress disorder.

He allegedly made a cryptic 911 call, inquiring about a potential shooting at Helix High. That led to the school being put on secure campus alert for three hours.

Authorities traced the phone call and took Schreiner into custody yesterday to be mentally evaluated.

They say they removed forty firearms and ammunition from his house.

His family insists no crime was committed and no threats were made.
