Vandals leave hate messages in Rancho Penasquitos

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8 / CNS) - Residents of Rancho Penasquitos woke up Monday to messages of hate spray painted on cars.  The vandals also hit two local schools and Hilltop Community park.

Swastikas, the number 666 and other pictures were painted on at least a dozen cars.  A wall at Sunset Hills Elementary School was hit, as well as a post that holds up the marquee at Black Mountain Middle School.  Calls about the damage along Oviedo Way near Hilltop Community Park began coming in after dawn, said Officer Jane Jacobsen.

The vandals seemed to spend the most time at the park, tagging the front sign, posts, and the ground.  There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to how and why they chose the affected places.

Police are now investigating the incident, but so far no arrests have been made.
