SAN DIEGO (AP) — The U.S. attorney's office says a truck driver has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute nearly 20,000 pounds of marijuana in Southern California after the pot was smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico through a narcotics tunnel.

Federal prosecutors say Carlos Cunningham, Jr., of Oceanside, entered his plea Thursday in San Diego federal court.

According to court documents, Cunningham admitted to driving truckloads of pot from a warehouse in San Diego to locations in Southern California and that he was aware that the marijuana was smuggled into the U.S. through the drug tunnel.

Cunningham faces a minimum ten years in prison. He's scheduled to be sentenced on April 18.
