I believe! Aztecs fans chant their way to victory

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's a catchy chant: "I believe that we will win!"

As the Aztecs' basketball winning streak continues, school spirit is reaching a fever pitch, bringing students to their feet before the games to a frenzy. They're hoping to take this chant all the way to the NCAA championship.

"It is super catchy, and it really gets you pumped up. It gets stuck in your head," a fan said. "It's just this feeling to get you to cheer on your Aztecs,"

Electric Aztecs fans are leaping out of the stands before tip-off at each game and busting out with some serious school spirit.

"Everybody's just going crazy, and everybody's jumping in the air," a fan said.

This high-energy holler is bringing in even the quietest kids.

"People who would never start a chant will get into it, if the person on the left, the person on the right are both chanting," a fan said.

It's a chant that's even popular outside of the Aztec Center, as some freshmen deliver a command performance.

"I even sing it when I'm going to the elevator, not even at the game," a fan said.

Some are crediting the chant for the Aztecs' red hot record.

"I think it really works because obviously we win a lot," a fan said.

The chant has even taken on a life of its own on the world wide web as well. Not only is it all over YouTube now, but a lot of students say they're posting it as their Facebook status before games.

Aztecs fans will have their next chance to try out their chant in person next Wednesday, when SDSU takes on BYU in Utah.
