Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) – The search is on for a brazen thief who made off with $50,000 worth of jewelry.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspect breaking into a Del Mar jewelry store Saturday morning.

Sheriff's investigators say he got in by digging a hole through a wall the store shares with a vacant building next door.

The thief wasn't able to get into the store's safe.  Investigators say this case is similar to another heist at a jewelry store last week.

If you have any information call the sheriff's department.
