CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A preliminary hearing was scheduled Monday for a man accused of stabbing another man in the throat on a San Diego trolley.

Emanuel Perez, 20, is charged with attempted murder and other lesser felonies. A judge will decide at the conclusion of the preliminary hearing whether the prosecution has enough evidence to go to trial.

Just before 4:45 p.m. Nov. 23, Perez allegedly got into an argument while riding on a trolley headed south from Imperial Avenue. According to Chula Vista police, he stabbed the victim in the throat as they trolley reached the H Street station in Chula Vista, then got off the trolley and ran to an apartment on Colorado Avenue.

Officers surrounded the apartment, and the resident told them to look for Perez in the closet. He was found there, and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
