Ocean Beach window vandalism spreads to Pacific Beach

Posted: Updated:

PACIFIC BEACH (CBS 8) - Small business owners in Pacific Beach have a big problem.  San Diego Police say a "tagging crew" has vandalized dozens of store front windows in the 900 Block of Garnett Avenue.

The vandalism spree may be connected to last month's attack in Ocean Beach.  In late January, three men were caught on surveillance video carving letters into windows with sharp tools.  More than 90 windows were damaged in O.B.   The cost to repair or replace the windows is well over $100,000.

San Diego Police tell News 8 they are investigating the crimes.  If the vandals are caught they could face prison time and be forced to pay restitution to the store owners.

In this CrimeFighters Alert video, Jeff Zevely has more.
