SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Power has been restored to about 700 of about 1,200 residences left without utility service in and around Coronado Friday morning, authorities reported.

A blackout apparently caused by a problem with overhead transmission equipment, began shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to San Diego Gas & Electric. Among the affected locations were Naval Air Station North Island, nearby 32nd Street Naval Station and parts of Tijuana River Valley Regional Park, SDG&E reported.

By shortly after 4 a.m., power had been restored to about 700 customers, according to the utility company.

All affected areas were expected to be back on line by late morning.
