Man who allegedly exposed himself to minor in Clairemont arrested

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who allegedly grabbed a 15-year-old girl and exposed himself to her on a Clairemont Mesa roadside Tuesday was arrested about three hours later while loitering in the area.

The teen told San Diego police a well-dressed, gray-haired man who appeared to be about 60 approached and flashed her as she was walking to school in the 5400 block of Balboa Arms Drive, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.

He then grabbed her arm, but she quickly broke free and ran off, Brown said. The girl went to a nearby business and telephoned her father, who made an emergency call.

About 10 a.m., a police sergeant investigating the crime saw a nervous-looking man matching the flasher's description, sitting in a pickup truck parked near the site of the assault.

Officers detained 58-year-old Stanley James Lovett of Clairemont Mesa and brought the teen back to the area. She confidently identified Lovett as her alleged assailant, though she said he had been wearing some different articles of clothing at the time of the crime, according to Brown.

Lovett was arrested on suspicion of annoying and molesting a minor, the lieutenant said.
