Local mountains packed with snow and people

MOUNT LAGUNA (CBS 8) - The recent storms blanketed our local mountains with a layer of fresh snow. On Monday, many San Diegans took advantage of the President's Day holiday to check it out.

What a great President's Day it is in the Mountains to play in the snow. We are in the Laguna play area and there is 2-plus feet of snow on the ground. Everything is covered, allowing for you to pick just about any lien you would like.

Speaking of lines, there was quite a wait this morning to make our way up here, but no chains were required. Parking has been a bit on the tight side, so bring your patience and don't forget to get your National Forest Adventure Pass if your're going into the Cleveland National Forest -- $5 for the day or $30 for the year.

Also, be sure to pick up your trash. You don't want Smokey Bear looking for you
