SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A baby who suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a teenage drunk driver has suffered a major setback.

Twenty-two-month-old Izaiah Wallis has been at Rady Children's Hospital since October and was scheduled to go home this coming Friday. But on Sunday, he began having trouble breathing.

Doctors found Izaiah has collapsed lung and is suffering from pneumonia. He has been returned to intensive care, where he is sedated and back on a ventilator.

The founder of a local organization helping the family says the news is very discouraging.

"This part is very difficult for the parents. They've been through this roller coaster ride. They've been able to maintain their faith and have been very strong, but this is very trying for them right now," Passion 4 KIDS founder Linda Van Kessler said.
