New Zealand Earthquake Benefit Bare Back Grill 624 E Street (Between 6th and 7th) Thursday, February 24th 7pm Proceeds to benefit the Red Cross Relief efforts

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - When it comes to the burgers that folks crave, everybody has their faves. But to really get your hands and mind around Bare Back Grill's raves, you've got to think inside the bun.

"All of our beef is 100 percent, grass-fed organic beef. We grind it fresh on site," P.J. Lamont said.

When it comes to sauces, Bare Back has a grind of its own.

"We don't use ketchup, mustard, mayo. We use a tomato chutney, which is a recipe we found traveling in New Zealand. It's kind of a thicker version of ketchup, and a garlic aioli," P.J. said.

It's called a Queenstown fave, a nod to its New Zealand roots.

"We were traveling down there. There was a small burger place, hole-in-the-wall, no seating, just kind of in an alley. Busiest place every single day. Got to know the owner and he sold us the recipes," P.J. said.

Bare Back Grill has added a few nuances of their own, like their lamb burger.

"Fresh ground lamb, blue cheese, mint dressing, pickled beet root, our homemade aioli and tomato chutney," P.J. said.

P.J. realizes that conversion is not always easy.

"It's hard sometimes because people have that thought in their mind of what a cheeseburger is, so you pretty much have to change them and say try the burger," he said.

On Thursday night, you'll have a chance to try a Bare Back Grill burger for a good cause to benefit victims of the New Zealand earthquake.

"We're going to be doing donations for all food and beverages sold and we're going to raise money for the Red Cross that's doing the relief efforts down in New Zealand," P.J. said.

These burgers also offer relief from your basic beef.
