LAKESIDE (CBS8) - Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 10500 block of Vine St. in Lakeside at 8:10pm Thursday after getting a report of a man not breathing.

"Once we arrived here we located the individual  and we saw that he was buried under a piece of shoring  equipment. This piece of equipment is made of wood it's  approximately 10 x 10 made out of 4 x 6's with a 3/4 inch  piece of plywood affixed to it," said Sgt Joe Passalacqua, with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

That wood shoring, we're told, is actually a form used to hold concrete when pouring a bridge and weighs approximately 800 pounds.

While it's not clear how the form fell on top of this guy, the person who reported the incident gives an indication as to why he was there.

"A transient had come down here to talk to him and he's the one who found him, and of course not having a cell phone he had to walk quite a distance to notify law enforcement," explained Passalacqua.

He says the same transient who reported the incident to authorities had shown the crushed victim the location Wednesday night; inferring that it's a safe place to seek shelter from the elements.

At this point the age of the victim is not known and the death is being called an accidental death.
