SAN DIEGO (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says a motorcycle rider was killed after he crested a hill on a rugged road near San Diego's Palomar Mountain State Park and crashed down an embankment.
The CHP says friends who were following him searched for the 29-year-old Imperial Beach man Sunday afternoon and couldn't find him.
An hour later, an Irvine cyclist went over the top of the hill, lost control and crashed down the same embankment. He sustained a minor knee injury and found the Imperial Beach man.
The North County Times says rescue crews were called but were unable to revive the victim and he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
