SAN DIEGO (AP) - The Border Patrol says agents found nearly 1,200 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of nearly $715,000, concealed inside a motor home trailer at a border checkpoint near San Diego.
Agent Scott Simon says a father and son traveling together in separate vehicles were arrested Sunday when agents discovered the marijuana in the trailer of the father's Winnebago motor home at a checkpoint near Pine Valley.
Simon says agents discovered 23 cardboard boxes inside the trailer containing numerous bundles of marijuana.
The father and son were turned over to a drug task force for federal prosecution. The drugs and vehicles also were seized.
Simon says agents also determined that the father is a Cuban citizen who was in the U.S. illegally.
